To empower the Toco Hills Orthodox community by offering a nurturing forum for mental health dialogue, resources and support.
To cultivate a community where mental health is openly discussed, compassionately supported, and holistically nurtured, becoming a model for other tight-knit communities to emulate.
Our Vision
Our Story
Victor Frankl, the Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, explained in his therapeutic approach called logotherapy that a person’s response to hardship is often “Why Me?” but the way to make meaning out of hardship is to instead ask “What Now?”
We define our “What Now” as Hineni: Toco Hills Mental Health Initiative. So what is Hineni?
We’re a Toco Hills-based Orthodox community initiative dedicated to enriching mental well-being through tailored resources, educational events and heartfelt community dialogue. We are a community-wide partnership sanctioned by the leadership of each organization with a lay leader representative from every shul and school serving the neighborhood.
Due to traumatic events in our community, we founded Hineni to proactively address some of the multifaceted issues of mental health and wellness. Our goals include education, destigmatization, coordination of mental health related events, and partnering with community mental health professionals.
